Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Finance

Reinforcing worldwide organizations and upgrading the methods for executing the Goals have stayed a test attributable to scant money related assets, exchange pressures, innovative snags, and an absence of The pandemic is adding difficulties to the usage of the Goals. As COVID-19 keeps on spreading, worldwide finance and business sectors have encountered extraordinary misfortunes and extreme unpredictability.

Prof. Dr. Nihan Yıldırım from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Research Assistant Denizhan Güven from the Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. M. Kick-off Meeting in Germany, of the FaiR Fashion Project in Partnership with ITU

The kick-off meeting of the FaiR Fashion project was held at the Hochschule Niederrhein in Mönchengladbach, Germany, in which ITU is an important partner and Dr. Zeynep Erden Bayazıt, from the Department of Management Engineering, is one of the executives. Offering a model that encourages a circular economy and sustainable consumption habits, the project aims to bring female innovators to a leadership position in the future of sustainable fashion. Cooperation Protocol Against Earthquakes Between ITU and BEDAŞ

ITU signed a cooperation protocol with BEDAŞ with the aim of being prepared for a possible major earthquake in the Marmara Region and further strengthening the energy infrastructure. Under the “Development of an Earthquake Accelerometer Sensor Compatible with the MASS Communication Protocol” project, the earthquake resistance of transformer stations will be determined in advance, and the data obtained will be used to create an earthquake risk map for Istanbul. 5G Technology Campus Experience at ITU

5G Technology Campus, established through the cooperation of Istanbul Technical University, Turkcell and Ericsson, was launched with a protocol signed on April 15, 2024. In the unit established at ITU Ayazağa Campus within the scope of the R&D cooperation that brings together the private sector and academia, 5G technologies will be developed and contributions will be made to the training of qualified human resources. ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal was unanimously re-elected as the President of the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) for the 2025-2026 term at the 27th General Assembly Meeting. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal stated that continuing his role as the President of WAITRO, which has nearly 200 institutional members from over 70 countries, for the next two years is a significant achievement for our country's international visibility.
