İTÜ has declared several ambitious targets and projects concerning increase the use of zero-emission vehicles, pedestrians’ paths and bicycle roads. The İTÜ Strategic Plan covering the period of 2017-2021 is the key policy document on this issue. Sustainability targets such as constructing new bicycle roads, promoting zero-emission vehicle use and energy as well as water-efficient practices have been provided in this document. Zero-emission vehicles have priority on the campus to reduce carbon dioxide emissions attributed to transportation. Through these efforts, İTÜ ranked the 28th and 54th greenest campus in Europe and World, respectively by UI GreenMetric.
