Sustainability MSc.

Interdisciplinary, 100% English, Sustainability Master Program started in the Fall Semester of 2023-24!

A master's degree program in Sustainability, which is 100% in English and thesis-based, is an interdisciplinary program not affiliated with any department. The Sustainability Master of Science Program is under the Department of Sustainability of the Graduate School. Graduates of 4-year engineering, architecture, and basic science faculties are accepted in the program.

Program Educational Objectives

The key learning outcomes of our Sustainability M.Sc. program are given below:

●      Apply Engineering Knowledge for Sustainability: Use engineering knowledge to address and advance sustainability and sustainable development, developing expertise and deepening it to an expert level. Interpret and integrate information from various disciplinary fields to create new knowledge.

●      Interdisciplinary Proficiency: Utilize knowledge related to sustainability management and sustainable development for problem-solving and practical skills. Navigate and understand interdisciplinary collaborations.

●      Strategic Innovation for Sustainability: Develop new strategic approaches related to sustainability management and sustainable development, take responsibility for solving problems, and demonstrate leadership in environments requiring the resolution of relevant issues. Independently conduct specialized work and be prepared to adapt as necessary.

●      Ethical and Cultural Proficiency: Oversee the collection, interpretation, application, and communication of data related to sustainability management and sustainable development while considering societal, scientific, cultural, and ethical values. Teach these values, develop strategies, policies, and implementation plans, and evaluate outcomes within a quality framework.

●      Effective Communication: Present current developments in sustainability management and sustainable development, along with their own work, supported by both quantitative and qualitative data. Communicate systematically, in a written, oral, and/or visual format, to both internal and external groups on international platforms. Use advanced proficiency in a foreign language and the necessary information and communication technologies, including computer software, required for project management.

Academy & Industry Collaboration

Students of the Sustainability MSc. are encouraged to bridge the gap between industry and academy through their thesis. ITU has ongoing protocols signed with many industry stakeholders that students can benefit from. In addition, our students will be guided to do their thesis with international collaborations within the scope of the EELISA Project.
