Basic services for all
ITU organises both free of charge and paid training and programmes to improve access to basic services for students, staff and local community.
Continuing Education for all
The Continuing Education Center (ITUSEM) offered a Sustainable Development Certificate Program to support education on basic services for all. Main topics in the training program include: Sustainable Cities and Communities and Urban Opportunities, Social Sustainability, Sustainable Economic Growth, Climate Action, Green Deal, and Resilience to Disasters, Energy and Water Efficiency, Productive Economies, Innovation and Technology, and Participatory Governance.

Health Institutions for all
In the polyclinics in our Ayazağa Medico-Social Center, 1st step diagnosis and treatment services are provided during working hours, and transport services are provided to the surrounding hospitals with 1 Patient Transport Ambulance.
In our center, 2 Practitioners, 1 Dentist, 1 Psychologist serve on a permanent basis, and 1 Dentist works on a contractual basis. In addition, 1 Specialist Nurse, 1 Nurse, 1 Laboratory Technician, 1 Emergency Medical Technician, 3 Paramedics, 1 Ambulance Driver, 1 Radiology Technician, 2 Office Clerks, 2 Patient Registrars, 1 Dentist Auxiliary Staff and 2 Cleaning Staff serve.
In our center laboratory; Complete Blood Count, Sedimentation, Complete Urine Assay (TIT) and Blood Glucose measurements are made. However, in our Center; Services such as EKG shooting, dressing, suture removal, serum insertion, injection, fever, pulse and blood pressure measurement are also offered.
Blood Donation
Within the scope of blood donation campaigns organized by the Türk Kızılayı, a blood donation organization was organized in cooperation with Çapa Blood Donation Center and the ITU Kızılay Club on 19-21 February 2024 in ITU University Ayazağa Campus.
Students and Staff access to health-care services
ITU Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center, we share some recommendations to protect our psychological well-being and increase our psychological resilience.
ITU Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center
Our Universtiy’s Psychological Counseling Center provides services for sexual and reproductive health-care. Moreover, our Health Service branch provides several reproductive care services.
The students and staff have continuous access to mental health support in the Center.
Security for all
“Emergency” Button System, aimed at preventing incidents that may occur in emergency situations or intervening in case of need, has been added to the ITUMobil application. “Emergency” Button System was established to prevent incidents that may occur in emergency situations or to intervene in case of need. When you tap the “Emergency” button on ITUMobil, your contact information and location are displayed on the screen. Thus, the nearest security unit quickly arrives on the scene, and in cases such as injury, emergency services are notified.
Shelters for Animals
In accordance with the relevant articles of the ITU Campus Animals Directive, designated animal feeding points have been established on the Ayazağa Campus, and feeding units have been installed. A map showing the feeding points is provided below:

● Work is ongoing to enable access to the map through the ITU Mobile application.
● The feeding units have been installed as shown in the image.
● Feeding animals outside the designated feeding points is strictly prohibited. In case of violation, the relevant article titled "Sanctions" in the ITU Campus Animals Directive will be enforced.
● The points marked in red on the map have been specifically designated for a limited number of elderly dogs that are under the supervision of the Veterinary Unit and have difficulty leaving their current locations.
● A similar study is being carried out for the urban campuses, and an announcement will be made once it is finalized.
Training Programs for Basic Services
ITU hosts several daily talks on topics such as 'International Water Day' and 'ITU for a Sustainable World,' aiming to raise awareness about water and waste management. To address the expected earthquake risk in Istanbul, the Department of Architecture offers a public lecture titled 'Mega City Awaiting an Earthquake: Istanbul - Building Safety, Reinforcement, and Tsunami Preparedness.' ITU also provides services for earthquake risk analysis and damage assessment within the local community.
Training to Students in the Earthquake Region by ITU Bellatrix Team
ITU Bellatrix Team, which achieved significant success as the first and only Turkish team accepted to NASA’s human exploration rover challenge HERC, came together with the students of Doğanşehir Science High School, located in the earthquake region, at the Space and Science Festival. (22 Feb 2024)

Bellatrix Team, established by ITU Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics students, was accepted to the Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC) 2024 organized by NASA. Bellatrix Team will compete at Marshall Space Flight Center in the USA, on 18-20 April, hosted by NASA.
To fulfill the requirement of engaging at least 250 students in various STEM-related educational activities as an evaluation criterion for HERC 2024, Bellatrix gave a training on space and science to students in the February 6 earthquake region. Click here for details.
High School Students Research Projects Regional Competition
The project exhibitions and evaluations of the Istanbul European Side Regional Competition as part of the 2204-A High School Students Research Projects Competition, organized by TÜBİTAK for the 55th time this year, took place at ITU Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on March 4-7. (08 Mar 2024)

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) hosted an important event that contributes to the acceptance of science in society. TÜBİTAK 2204-A High School Students Research Projects Istanbul European Side Regional Competition brought together young researchers at Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center (SDCC).
Nearly 90 original projects, each more interesting than the other, were exhibited and competed in the fields of Biology, Geography, Values Education, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology, History, Technological Design, Turkish, and Software. The projects were evaluated by a jury according to criteria such as presentation, posters, and stand layout.
The award-winning projects were announced on March 7 at a ceremony attended by all project teams and their advisor teachers. The ceremony was held simultaneously in all regions. Participating students and their advisor teachers followed the announcement of the results with excitement.
The award ceremony was attended by our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata, 2204 High School Students Research Projects Europe Regional Coordinator and Department of Aeronautical Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Hülya Cebeci, Provincial Director of National Education Assoc. Open Science Studies from ITU and EELISA

Open Science Practices

ITU Mustafa İnan Library held a free of charge training series to promote open science practices that support transparency and collaboration in the production of scientific knowledge and to raise awareness about open science elements.
In the first session of the face-to-face series, "Open Access Publishing" was discussed. The content was carried out in an interactive environment within the framework of the questions given below, under the guidance of the trainer and with the support of the participants.
- Where is open access in open science?
- What is open access publishing, how to publish open access, what is the benefit?
- How can you find a reliable open access publisher to publish your research?
- How can the library support you in the process of open access publishing?

Future Engineers Summit 2024
Held at ITU's Ayazağa and Gümüşsuyu campuses between November 4 and 7, 2024, this year's second FES'24 brought engineering students together with leading companies in the sector, offering them important career opportunities

Career development events at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) help ITU students prepare for the future in a well-equipped manner. The Future Engineers Summit, organized by the ITU Career and Internship Center with BAYKAR as the main sponsor, took place between November 4-7, 2024, at our Ayazağa and Gümüşsuyu campuses. The event served as an important platform for students to meet the business world and interact with industry professionals.
At FES’24, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal visited the booths and met with students and industry representatives. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal highlighted that ITU students gained new job opportunities and new prospects at the event, which featured job and internship interviews, presentations, various career events, and workshops organized with the participation of all sectors requiring talent, from information technology to maritime, banking to energy, and machinery to construction and textiles. Our Rector stated that the “Engineers of the Future Summit” event also brought together industry representatives with ITU students and recent graduates, thereby establishing direct contact with the business world. “Women Who Choose and Are Chosen” Panel at ITU on Women's Rights Day
The “Women Who Choose and Are Chosen” panel, organized by ITU's Center for Research and Application on Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology as part of Women's Rights Day, was held at the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on our Ayazağa Campus on December 4, 2024, and attracted a lot of attention.

The Istanbul Technical University Center for Women's Studies and Applications in Science, Engineering, and Technology (İTÜ BMT KAUM) organized an important event as part of Women's Rights Day, which is celebrated every year on December 5 to mark the adoption of the law granting women the right to vote and be elected in our country.
The panel discussion titled “Women Who Elect and Are Elected” brought together female politicians, academics, mayors, and our alumni. In his opening remarks, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal highlighted ITU's pioneering role as an institution that has nurtured Türkiye’s first female engineers from the past to the present. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal emphasized that since taking office, he has adopted an approach that supports women's strong and effective participation in academic, professional, and social spheres, and in this regard, he has placed great importance on increasing the number of women in ITU's administrative ranks.
World Water Day Meeting at ITU
The World Water Day Meeting, held on March 25, 2024, at ITU Ayazağa Campus SDKM, brought together experts in the field to discuss the future of water resources

ITU Students Volunteer Club

ITU Volunteering Club's project called 'Bir Başka Yol' (Another Path) aims to support high school students facing financial or personal limitations in showing interest in education and attending private tutoring. ITU students leverage their knowledge and resources to assist these students, providing lessons for the university entrance exams and fostering an educational mindset. The project also offers tailored exam guidance, necessary support, and promotes a sense of community among university students, allowing them to benefit from social and cultural experiences. In line with the project, a team of university students dedicated their time on a programmed basis to assist 12th-grade high school students in their university entrance exam preparation.
