In an interview with Anadolu Agency’s Yeşilhat [Greenline] unit, which focuses on environmental news, Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Börte Köse Mutlu emphasized that at least 35 percent of the world’s carbon emissions originate from the construction sector and stated that for an environmentally friendly future, preferring natural materials will both reduce ecological damage and offer significant gains in terms of energy efficiency.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Börte Köse Mutlu stated that in the process of reshaping the construction industry with an environmentally friendly vision, hemp, which stands out with its recyclability as well as its aspects such as radiation absorption properties and fire resistance, is a thermal insulation material that can prevent carbon emissions resulting from the heating and cooling procedures of buildings.
