ITU prioritizes responsible consumption and recycling and implements policies related to these. The ITU Waste Management Directive specifies policies on how to handle, store and transport hazardous materials and, in general, how to minimize waste. In 2020, ITU also applied for the Zero Waste Certificate 2021 evaluations issued by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. As part of the upcycling project, denim bags and pencil holders were produced by combining Lee Cooper's color charts and inert fabrics. The collection is on sale at the 1773 ITU store located on the ITU Ayazaga Campus and all over Turkey via the store's website. Recyclable drinking glasses, coasters and stationery materials were designed within the scope of the ITU Green Campus Project.
