At the summit attended by our various stakeholders, ITU Sustainability Office Vice-Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru Acuner Türet gave a speech on sustainability in ITU.

The "Role of Universities in Sustainable Development in the 100th Year of the Republic of Turkey Summit," organized by Istanbul Medipol University's Center for Sustainable Development Practice and Research, took place at the Kavacık South Campus. UNESCO Turkey National Commission President Prof. Dr. Öcal Oğuz, in his speech at the event, emphasized the importance of sustainable development for all segments of society. Oğuz stated that awareness of sustainability needs to increase and highlighted the importance of efficient resource utilization, waste prevention, and the promotion of a culture of saving.

Prof. Dr. Recep Öztürk, the Advisor to the Rector and Quality Coordinator of Istanbul Medipol University, mentioned that universities can contribute to sustainable development and that the sustainability goals set by the United Nations are the responsibility of universities. Öztürk stressed the need for sustainability themes in the institutional policies of universities and the development of a culture of saving.

Also within the scope of the summit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru Acuner Türet and Asst. Prof. Burak Barutçu from ITU, Dr. Tamer Atabarut from Boğaziçi University, Şadan Ertekin Mis from MİKADO, United Nations SDSN Türkiye Coordinator Bahar Özay, Asst. Prof. Ayşegül Sezgin Huysal from Medipol University, and Aslı Dede, Founder of Sustainable Living School gave speeches on sustainable development
