ITÜ Library organized its first in-house online open science event called "What is Open Science and What does it Change?" on the 2nd of February, 2022. Prof. Dr. Yaşar Tonta (Hacettepe University), Gültekin Gürdal (İYTE), Assoc. Dr.Zehra Taşkın (Adam Mickiewicz University), Aslı Vural (TÜBİTAK) and Gülçin Kubat (ITÜ) shared their presentations, and a Q&A session was held at the final part. Most of the participants were ITÜ Academicians, which was the target audience at the first stage of the event series.

This event, moderated by our vice rector Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata, allowed the exchange of ideas and collective thinking for concrete actions among academics. A wide range of topics such as new generation open access databases, their effects on academia, TÜBİTAK activities, and ITÜ's goals were discussed. Opportunities and threats in the adoption and implementation of open access, with a wider scope open science principles, by our university were adressed.
